Sometimes the perfect song finds the perfect scene a few years after it’s released. UK producer, vocalist, and DJ Harrison—the artist behind Heated Rivalry‘s now-viral remix of t.A.T.u.’s 2002 hit “All the Things She Said”—has watched his 2022 reimagining take on an entirely new life thanks to the hit queer Canadian hockey romance series that premiered in November 2025 on Crave.
While the remix had already amassed millions of streams following its original release, its placement in Episode 4 saw an explosive resurgence, helping push the track past 55 million Spotify streams and introducing it to a new audience. The moment itself has become one of the series’ most talked-about scenes. In Episode 4, hockey rivals-turned-lovers Ilya (Connor Storrie) and Shane (Hudson Williams) arrive at the same night club with their respective partners, each trying to convince themselves they’ve moved on. As the original version of “All the Things She Said” plays, the two lock eyes across the room. At that moment, the soundtrack shifts to Harrison’s darker, more emotionally charged remix mirroring the characters’ longing and desire for each other.
For many viewers, the sequence cemented the remix as inseparable from the story itself. Across social media, fans praised the music choice for elevating the emotional weight of the episode, with countless edits, playlists, and reactions helping propel the song back into the spotlight.
In our interview with Harrison, he reflects on his remix suddenly becoming the emotional heartbeat of one of television’s most unforgettable scenes.
“It’s been a really good thing, you know. I wasn’t doing as much music at that point. I was doing other things, chasing other ventures in my life at the time. When that happened, I didn’t really expect the series to become so big, but now, with the wave of it and the opportunities that came my way, I’m [now] playing shows in America, which I never got to do. And I’m playing Hyde Park. I just collabed with Duran Duran and Nile Rodgers. So really, these opportunities all came from that song being so big.”
He adds, “I didn’t really expect it to do what it did at the time when I made it. From what I can see, it’s like it just connected with so many people at the same time. And it’s crazy because I collaborated with David Guetta and loads of different DJs, and even when I did those songs with some of the biggest dance acts in the world, you know, they never connected like this song did.“
Following the success of Heated Rivalry and the viral resurgence of his remix, Harrison embarked on a Canadian Harrison Heated Tour that kicked off in March, taking him to clubs across the country, including stops in Hamilton, Montreal, Ottawa, Edmonton, Vancouver, and Toronto.
Adding to the momentum, Harrison has also been announced as part of the lineup for Duran Duran’s return to BST Hyde Park in London on July 5. Joining an impressive bill that includes Scissor Sisters, Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Groove Armada, Sophie Grey, and more, the performance comes as Harrison also releases the “Free to Love (Harrison Remix).”
When it comes to remix choices, Harrison says his approach is driven by nostalgia and cultural staying power, gravitating toward songs that have remained memorable years after their release. He believes early 2000s hits now have the same nostalgic flare for today’s audiences that 80s classics once did.
“For me, it’s just like, do I remember it? Has it stayed in my mind for 10 or 15 years? How long did it stay in my mind for? And that’s kind of how I make my choices. [I always ask myself] do I remember it? Why do I remember it? And does everybody else remember it? When I was younger, [remixes] were more obviously of the 80s, the Tainted Loves, and that kind of thing. But now, I feel like the records that we grew up with, a whole new generation is shifted, so these early 2000 songs [is like] our 80s.”
Harrison teases that there’s plenty more to come, revealing ongoing talks and projects with other artists. “I have been in contact with Trevor Horn [one of the writers of “All the Things She Said”]. He’s got a really great back catalog which I’m trying to get hold of. I’m talking with Duran Duran potentially about remixing some of their other music. I’m working on a Britney [Spears] song, whether that’s official or whether that’s just me doing what I did with “All the Things She Said” with the lower type male vocal, we’re about to find out, I can’t tell you which song it is yet. But there’s lots of opportunities I’m working on. So, the chapter’s not done, it’s just beginning.”
Next up, Harrison is set to perform at Heated Rivalry Night on August 31 at Fenway Park during the Boston Red Sox game. The special event will also feature Hollander and Rozanov jerseys and a pre-game dance party.
