We were joined on the Popternative show by Cara Horgan (The Sandman) who plays Becks Starling in the crime mystery series, The Marlow Murder Club. Season 2 premiered on Masterpiece on PBS on August 24. Cara stars alongside Samantha Bond (Downton Abbey), Jo Martin (Holby City), and Natalie Dew (Sandylands) as the group of women who solve murders in the small town of Marlow.
Season 2 also has a number of guest stars in store including Tom Stourton (Horrible Histories), Caroline Langrishe (Lovejoy), James Wilby (Poldark), Nina Sosanya (Baby Reindeer), Andrew Knott (Protection), Hugh Quarshie (The Rainmaker), Elizabeth Bennett (Father Brown), and Camilla Beeput (Hijack). Season 2 sees life Marlow just starting to get back to normal after the events of Season 1. But it isn’t long before retired archaeologist Judith Potts, dog-walker Suzie Harris, and Vicar’s wife Becks Starling are asked back to help solve a series of new crimes involving local residents.
“There’s something about murders, it’s everyone’s biggest fear, right? So to think that these murders could happen in small towns that we live in and that it could be someone we know is something that is always going to intriguing for people I think. And what is particular of this genre is the fun of working out who did it,” Cara tells us.
“This is quite a unique project in the regard that it’s come back and there’s the same core team of us. It’s also been really useful to have the same team of writers because we can all work together at which parts of the character can be explored and how that can be useful for solving the crimes,” she adds.
