We were joined on the Popternative show by Nick Benson who plays Jessup in the Hunger Games prequel film, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, which premieres today in theaters. It stars Tom Blyth (Billy The Kid), Rachel Zegler (West Side Story), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones), Hunter Schafer (Euphoria), Josh Andrés Rivera (West Side Story), Jason Schwartzman (Asteroid City), and Viola Davis (The Woman King).

The film follows a young Coriolanus (Blyth) who is the last hope for his failing lineage, the once-proud Snow family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With his livelihood threatened, Snow is reluctantly assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Zegler), a tribute from the impoverished District 12. But after Lucy Gray’s charm captivates the audience of Panem, Snow sees an opportunity to shift their fates.

In our interview, Nick tells us about his character, Jessup, the male tribute from District 12 in the 10th Hunger Games, his audition process for the film, working with the cast, and what it was like filming the games component. Watch the spoiler-free interview with Nick Benson below.
