Lionsgate today announced that The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes will arrive on Premium Video on Demand and Premium Electronic Sell-Through on December 19th, just in time for the holidays. The film was released in theaters on November 17th and currently has an 89% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

A prequel to the Hunger Games films, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is set 64 years before Katniss Everdeen volunteered as tribute, and decades before Coriolanus Snow became the tyrannical President of Panem. With his livelihood threatened, Coriolanus (Tom Blyth) is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zigler), a tribute from District 12. Clemensia is a student at the Academy in the Capital and one of Coriolanus’s close friends who also is selected to be a mentor for the 10th Hunger Games.

The cast includes Tom Blyth (Billy the Kid, Benediction), Rachel Zegler (Shazam! Fury of the Gods, West Side Story), Peter Dinklage (Cyrano, Game of Thrones), Hunter Schafer (Euphoria), Josh Andrés Rivera (Cat Person, West Side Story), Jason Schwartzman (Asteroid City, Moonrise Kingdom), Viola Davis (Air, The Woman King), Ashley Liao (Love in Taipei, Fuller House), Burn Gorman (The Offer, The Dark Knight Rises), Fionnula Flanagan (The Others, Smother), Kjell Brutscheidt (Ich bin Sophie Scholl), Isobel Jesper Jones (The Serpent Queen), Victoria Paige Watkins (Secrets of Sulphur Springs), and Flora Li Thiemann (The Gryphon, Nelly’s Adventure).

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes will be available to buy for $24.99 and to rent at $19.99 (48-hour period) on participating digital platforms from which movies are purchased, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play, Vudu, and more.
