Netflix today dropped a teaser tailer for The Diplomat Season 3, set to premiere in Fall 2025 (date TBD). In the teaser, we get our first look on screen of Bradley Whitford who joins the series as the First Gentleman, Todd Penn, husband of now President Grace Penn, played by Allison Janney, who was introduced in Season 2. This marks a reunion for the two as they co-starred in the hit political drama series, The West Wing (1999-2006).

Season 3 will see the return of cast members Keri Russell, Rufus Sewell, David Gyasi, Ali Ahn, Rory Kinnear, Ato Essandoh, Michael McKean, Nana Mensah, and Miguel Sandoval.

I was thrilled when I heard that Debora was interested in me doing something. I had no idea what it was. I love the show. I was jealous of the writing on this show. I love Keri. I love Rufus. And I hear Allison Janney is good at acting too. It’s an amazing cast,” Whitford told to Tudum.

The synopsis for Season 3 reads, “Ambassador Kate Wyler (Keri Russell) lives the particular nightmare that is getting what you want. She just accused Vice President Grace Penn (Allison Janney) of hatching a terrorist plot and admitted she’s after the VP’s job. But now the President is dead, Kate’s husband Hal (Rufus Sewell) may have inadvertently killed him, and Grace Penn is leader of the free world. None of this slows Hal’s campaign to land Kate the vice presidency. Kate steps into a role she never wanted, with a freedom she never expected, an increasingly complicated friendship with Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison (David Gyasi), and an unnerving bond with First Gentleman Todd Penn (Bradley Whitford).”
