Netflix today revealed a teaser from the upcoming supernatural series The Boroughs, Executive Produced by the Duffer Brothers (Stranger Things), premiering May 21.
A retirement community promises its residents the time of their lives, but for newcomer Sam Cooper, it feels more like a quiet kind of imprisonment. Everything shifts after an encounter one night reveals something monstrous lurking beyond the homes. Ignored by authorities, Sam turns to an unlikely group of allies: a sharp-witted former journalist, a searching spiritualist, a jaded music manager, and a brilliant doctor with few options left.
“While the heroes in The Boroughs have a few more years on them than the kids from Stranger Things, they are a similarly lovable bunch of misfits, and we can’t wait for you to join them on an adventure that is at turns scary, funny, and deeply touching,” the Duffer Brothers tell Tudum.

The ensemble cast includes Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2, Frida), Geena Davis (Blink Twice, Thelma & Louise), Alfre Woodard (Luke Cage, Star Trek: First Contact), Denis O’Hare (American Horror Story, The Nevers), Clarke Peters (The Wire, Eric), Bill Pullman (The Sinner, Independence Day), Carlos Miranda (Station 19, Vida), Jena Malone (Goliath, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire), Seth Numrich (Under the Banner of Heaven, TURN: Washington’s Spies), and Alice Kremelberg (The Trial of the Chicago 7, The Sinner).
Additional cast are Ed Begley Jr. (Young Sheldon, Better Call Saul), Dee Wallace (E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Cujo), Eric Edelstein (The Lowdown, Twin Peaks), Rafael Casal (Loki, Blindspotting), Mousa Hussein Kraish (Atropia, American Gods), Beth Bailey (Little Brother, Outer Range), Karan Soni (Pluribus, Miracle Workers), and Jane Kaczmarek (Malcolm in the Middle, CHIPS).
