Hulu’s drama series Tell Me Lies returned for its second season on September 4th, and the first 2 episodes promises a season with even more toxicity and shocking twists. Season 2 picks up as Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White) return to college, not speaking after their dramatic breakup at the start of the summer in 2008.
But while very much at odds, they find themselves in a new version of their addictive dynamic – which is as infuriating as it is inescapable, both in 2008 and in the present time which takes place in 2015. The story this time also expands deeper into the lives of Lucy and Stephen’s friend group, as the fallout from season one impacts all of their lives in unexpected ways. Meaghan Oppenheimer returns as executive producer and showrunner. Adapted from Carola Lovering’s novel of the same name, Lovering also serves as a consulting producer
Returning cast also include Cat Missal, Spencer House, Sonia Mena, Branden Cook, and Alicia Crowder, and welcomes new cast members Tom Ellis and Thomas Doherty.
We were joined back on the Popternative show by Grace and Jackson who discuss returning for a new season and how the intensity has increased with the storylines: “It’s a super fun ride, I didn’t think it could get more toxic and dysfunctional, and [the writers] conquered that, especially with the first episode,” Grace says.
“It’s one of the most anxious, exciting watches I have ever seen; you really get a feeling in your stomach watching this show,” Jackson says on the many shocking twists that occur during each episode.
