
Netflix today released a first look at the upcoming WWII movie, The Six Triple Eight, written and directed by Tyler Perry. Starring Kerry Washington (Little Fires Everywhere, Scandal), “The Six Triple Eight is inspired by the first and only Women’s Army Corps unit of color to serve overseas in WWII. Given an extraordinary mission and united in their determination, these unsung heroes delivered hope and shattered barriers.”
It will first release in select theaters on December 6 before streaming globally on Netflix on December 20. Tyler Perry wrote the screenplay which is based on the article “Fighting A Two-Front War” by Kevin M. Hymel.


With Washington leading as Major Charity Adams, the film also has a large ensemble cast including: Ebony Obsidian (Sistas), Milauna Jackson (A Jazzman’s Blues), Kylie Jefferson (Tiny Pretty Things), Shanice Shantay (Perfect Harmony), Sarah Jeffery (Charmed), Pepi Sonuga (Pam & Tommy), Moriah Brown (Power Book II: Ghost), Jeanté Godlock (Daybreak), Jay Reeves (All American), Jeffery Johnson (Bird of Paradise), Baadja-Lyne Odums (Ruthless), Donna Biscoe (The Supremes at Earl’s All-You-Can-Eat), Gregg Sulkin (Runaways), Scott Daniel Johnson (Found), Susan Sarandon (Thelma & Louise), with Dean Norris (Breaking Bad), Sam Waterston (Law & Order), and Oprah Winfrey (Greenleaf).
The film also features an original song, “The Journey” written by Diane Warren and performed by H.E.R., with choreography by Debbie Allen.
