The first film of the the new The Strangers horror trilogy, The Strangers: Chapter 1, will be coming to theaters on May 17th, 2024. Ahead of its theatrical release, The Strangers themselves were spotted at SXSW in Austin, Texas this week giving roaming (or rather, stalking) the streets.

Directed by Renny Harlin (Cliffhanger, The Exorcist: The Beginning) and written by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland (King of the Hill, Due Date) with a story by Bryan Bertino, Chapter 1 stars Madelaine Petsch (Riverdale, Sightless) as a young woman starting a new life with her fiancé played by Froy Gutierrez (Cruel Summer, Hocus Pocus 2). Suddenly, during a road trip stop in a remote vacation rental in the woods, they become the prey of a mysterious gang of masked strangers who attack without warning or reason.
The Strangers: Chapter 1 also stars Gabriel Basso (The Night Agent, The Kings of Summer) and Ema Horvath (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, What Lies Below).

The Strangers: Chapter 1 synopsis reads: “After their car breaks down in an eerie small town, a young couple (Madelaine Petsch and Froy Gutierrez) are forced to spend the night in a remote cabin. Panic ensues as they are terrorized by three masked strangers who strike with no mercy and seemingly no motive in The Strangers: Chapter 1, the chilling first entry of this upcoming horror feature film series.”
