New Horror Movies to Watch in October

Spooky Season is here and October has no shortage of new horror movies! There are several new flicks making their way to both theaters and streaming platforms throughout the month giving horror fans lots of options.

Check out the slate below.

Bone Lake – October 3 (In theaters)

Cast: Maddie Hasson, Marco Pigossi, Alex Roe, Andra Nechita

Synopsis: “A couple’s romantic vacation at a secluded lakeside estate is upended when they are forced to share the mansion with a mysterious and attractive couple. In this darkly hilarious and seductive horror story, a dream getaway spirals into a nightmarish maze of sex, lies, and manipulation, bringing terrifying secrets to light and triggering a bloody battle for survival.”

Coyotes – October 3 (In theaters)

Synopsis: “Trapped in their Hollywood Hills home, a family must fight for survival as a pack of savage coyotes closes in.”

Good Boy – October 3 (In theaters)

Cast: Larry Fessenden, Arielle Friedman, Indy, Shane Jensen, Anya Krawcheck, Stuart Rudin

Synopsis: “A loyal dog moves to a rural family home with his owner Todd, only to discover supernatural forces lurking in the shadows. As dark entities threaten his human companion, the brave pup must fight to protect the one he loves most.”

Shell – October 3 (In select theaters and on digital)

Cast: Elisabeth Moss, Kate Hudson, Arian Moayed, Este Haim, Elizabeth Berkley, Kaia Gerber

Synopsis: “Desperate to reclaim her career, once-beloved actress Samantha Lake (Elisabeth Moss) is drawn into the glamorous world of wellness mogul Zoe Shannon (Kate Hudson)—only to uncover a monstrous truth beneath its flawless surface.”

V/H/S/Halloween – October 3 (Shudder)

A collection of Halloween-themed videotapes unleashes a series of twisted, blood-soaked tales, turning trick-or-treat into a struggle for survival. With tales from directors Bryan M. Ferguson, Casper Kelly, Micheline Pitt-Norman, R.H. Norman, Alex Ross Perry, Paco Plaza, Anna Zlokovic.

Vicious – October 10 (Paramount+)

Cast: Dakota Fanning, Kathryn Hunter, Mary McCormack, Rachel Blanchard, Devyn Nekoda, Emily Mitchell, Klea Scott

Synopsis: “When Polly (Dakota Fanning) receives a mysterious Box from an unexpected late-night visitor, it comes with a simple instruction: place three things inside: something you need, something you hate, and something you love. What begins as a strange ritual quickly unravels into a waking nightmare. Trapped in a terrifying world where reality bends and memory betrays, Polly must navigate a series of impossible choices.”

Black Phone 2 – October 17 (In theaters)

Cast: Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Demián Bichir, Miguel Mora, Jeremy Davies

Synopsis: “Four years ago, 13-year-old Finn killed his abductor and escaped, becoming the sole survivor of The Grabber. But true evil transcends death … and the phone is ringing again. As Finn, now 17, struggles with life after his captivity, the headstrong 15-year-old Gwen begins receiving calls in her dreams from the black phone and seeing disturbing visions of three boys being stalked at a winter camp known as Alpine Lake.”

Synopsis: “Alice returns to her childhood home after her mother’s death, only to find the house is rigged with surveillance tracking her every move, as a sinister presence lurks, driving her towards a terrifying revelation.”

The Hand That Rocks the Cradle – October 22 (Hulu)

Cast: Maika Monroe, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Raúl Castillo, Martin Starr, Mileiah Vega

Synopsis: “An upscale suburban mom brings a new nanny, Polly Murphy, into her home, only to discover she is not the person she claims to be.”

Queens of the Dead – October 24 (In theaters)

Cast: Katy O’Brian, Riki Lindhome, Jack Haven, Shaunette Renée Wilson

Synopsis: “When a zombie apocalypse breaks out in Brooklyn on the night of a giant warehouse party, an eclectic group of drag queens, club kids, & frenemies must put aside their drama and use their unique skills to fight against the brain-thirsty, scrolling undead.”

Shelby Oaks – October 24 (In theaters)
