
We were joined on the Popternative show by Javier Bardem (Monsters) and Vicky Jenson (Shrek) to discuss the Netflix animated musical fantasy, Spellbound. Premiering on the platform on November 22, the family-friendly animated film follows the adventures of Ellian, the tenacious young daughter of the rulers of Lumbria who must go on a daring quest to save her family and kingdom after a mysterious spell transforms her parents into monsters.
Directed by Jenson, Spellbound has an original score from EGOT-winning composer Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast) and lyrics by Glenn Slater (Tangled). In addition to Bardem, the voice cast is led by Rachel Zegler (West Side Story), John Lithgow (The Old Man), Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies), Jenifer Lewis (Black-ish), Nathan Lane (Dicks: The Musical), and Tituss Burgess (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt).
