We were joined back on the Popternative show by Alix West Lefler (My Life with the Walter Boys) to discuss her new horror film Speak No Evil, which premiered in theaters September 13.

Based on the 2022 Danish-Dutch film of the same name by Christian Tafdrup and Mads Tafdrup, the 2024 film also stars James McAvoy (Split), Mackenzie Davis (Terminator: Dark Fate), Aisling Franciosi (Stopmotion), Dan Hough (Hollyoaks), and Scoot McNairy (Narcos: Mexico). Written for the screen and directed by James Watkins (Eden Lake), it is produced by Jason Blum (Five Nights at Freddy’sM3GAN) for Blumhouse and Paul Ritchie (McMafia).

The film follows American couple Louise and Ben Dalton (Davis and McNairy), who, along with their 11-year-old daughter Agnes (West Lefler), accept the weekend-holiday invitation of Paddy (McAvoy), his wife Ciara (Franciosi) and their mute son Ant (Hough). What begins as a nice holiday soon warps into a psychological nightmare.

On working with the cast, Alix tells us about her scenes with Dan who plays Ant, “That was the first thing that Dan has ever acted in, he did such an amazing job, he’s such an amazing actor. He really took the pressure on so well. We were really close on set so seeing him being able to get the spotlight was so cool and sweet to watch.” She also talks about working with the rest of the cast and filming some of the more intense scenes.

Watch the full conversation with Alix below (there are spoilers).

Speak No Evil is available to buy or rent on digital.
