In September 2025, Prime Video renewed the psychological thriller We Were Liars for a second season, and today, we just got a major update about Season 2.
Season 2 will serve as a prequel to the series, based on E. Lockhart’s novel, Family of Liars. Season 2 will take place in the summer of 1999 and will chronicle the summer of the three Sinclair Sisters, Carrie, Penny, and Bess, in flashbacks as their younger selves. In Season 1, Carrie was portrayed by Mamie Gummer, Penny by Caitlin FitzGerald, and Bess by Candice King.
Prime Video today announced that in Season 2, Parker Lapaine (House of the Dragon) will play young Carrie, Elysia Roorbach (The Pitt) will play young Penny, and Madison Wolfe (The Hunting Wives) will play young Bess.
Addtionally, a younger Harris Sinclair will be portrayed by Josh Dallas (Manifest), and Peyton List (The Rookie) will play young Tipper. In Season 1, Harris and Tipper were portayed by David Morse and Wendy Crewson, respectively. Costa D’Angelo (Tell Me Lies) has also been cast for Season 2 in a new role as Pfeff.
The synopsis for Season 2 of We Were Liars reads, “In an effort to confront her truth, Cadence returns to Beechwood. As she digs deeper into family secrets, she learns about the Sinclair Sisters’ summer of 1999 — a summer rife with first love, rivalry, and even murder. In flashbacks, we see Carrie, Penny, and Bess navigate their own teenage summer, as they come to terms with their past in the present day.”
We Were Liars premiered on June 18, 2025 on Prime Video and also stars Emily Alyn Lind, Shubham Maheshwari, Esther McGregor, Joseph Zada, and Rahul Kohli.
