We were joined back on the Popternative show by Kiara Pichardo who plays Nicole Herrera in the paranormal drama series, School Spirits. The highly anticipated season 2 premiered on Paramount+ on January 30 with the first 3 episodes.
Season 2’s returning cast also includes Peyton List as Maddie Nears, Kristian Ventura as Simon Elroy, Spencer MacPherson as Xavier Baxter, Sarah Yarkin as Rhonda, Nick Pugliese as Charley, Rainbow Wedell as Claire Zomer, Josh Zuckerman as Mr. Martin, and Milo Manheim as Wally Clark.
The series is centered around Maddie (Peyton List), a teen girl stuck in the afterlife investigating her own mysterious disappearance. In season 1, along with other ghosts at her high school, Maddie went on a crime-solving journey as she was adjusting to high school purgatory. But the closer she got to discovering the truth, the more secrets and lies were uncovered, leading to a major cliffhanger at the end of the season finale.
Picking up from the shocking season 1 finale, season 2 finals Maddie still stuck in the afterlife, but now with the knowledge of what happened to her. She must unite her friends in the spectral and living worlds in order to reclaim her stolen life.
“I’m so surprised every time we get to read a new script and half the time all you hear are gasps and like, ‘ooh’ all around the table,” Kiara says.
On what felt a bit different filming the new season compared to the first, Kiara explains, “In season one we were mostly in the school. This time around, we had barely any school scenes, we were outside most of the time. So, it was much more adventurous, [there were] different dynamics, different friendships forming.”
