NBC is expanding its lineup for the 2026-2027 television season with four brand-new scripted series including two dramas and two comedies. The newly announced shows feature star-packed ensembles led by some of television’s most recognizable faces, with familiar names audiences already know from hit series over the years.

“Our creative teams, led by Lisa Katz at NBC and Erin Underhill at Universal Television, delivered an exceptional pilot slate, developing eight standout projects that reflect our ambition,” said Pearlena Igbokwe, Chair of NBC Entertainment, Peacock Scripted and Television Studios “While we often hear the phrase embarrassment of riches, it truly applies in this case. This process allowed us to take big swings, and we landed on shows that we think can truly break through.”

After a seemingly cut-and-dry case turns into a deadly conspiracy, they must use the expertise from a lifetime of protecting civilians and politicians to protect one another and bring the killer to justice… even if it means betraying their sworn code.”

The cast also includes Hope Davis (Your Honor), Kat Cunning (On Swift Horses), Tommy O’Brien (Weird: The Al Yankovic Story), Taylor Bloom (American Horror Story), and Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll).

The Rockford Files – Premiering in 2027

A new reimagining of the classic crime drama The Rockford Files is heading to NBC in 2027. The original series, which starred James Garner from 1974 to 1980, followed private investigator Jim Rockford as he solved cases while getting into trouble along the way. Now, Bones star David Boreanaz is stepping into the iconic role.

Michaela McManus (SEAL Team), Felix Solis (Ozark), and Jacki Weaver (Silver Linings Playbook) will also star. The synopsis reads, “Newly paroled after doing time for a crime he didn’t commit, James Rockford returns to his life as a private investigator, using his charm and wit to solve cases around Los Angeles. It doesn’t take long for his quest for legitimacy to land him squarely in the crosshairs of both local police and organized crime.”

Sunset P.I. – Premiering in 2027

New Girl star Jake Johnson is returning to the comedy TV world with the upcoming series Sunset P.I. Not much has been released about the show’s premise aside from this one logline: “This comedy continues the proud tradition of Los Angeles private eyes that began with Philip Marlowe.”
