Paramount+ today dropped the official trailer for the new series, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, which will premiere with two episodes on Thursday, January 15, 2026. New episodes of the 10-episode-long season will drop weekly on Thursdays, with the season finale on Thursday, March 12.
At New York Comic Con, Stephen Colbert announced in a special video that he will be the voice of Starfleet Academy’s Digital Dean of Students, giving daily announcements to the students and alerting them of anything that needs their immediate attention.
The series introduces viewers to a young group of cadets who come together to pursue a common dream of hope and optimism. Under the watchful and demanding eyes of their instructors, they discover what it takes to become Starfleet officers as they navigate blossoming friendships, explosive rivalries, first loves and a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself.
Star Trek: Starfleet Academy stars Holly Hunter (Saving Grace) as the Chancellor of Starfleet Academy, the Starfleet cadets played by Sandro Rosta, Karim Diané (One Of Us Is Lying), Kerrice Brooks (My Old Ass), George Hawkins (Boiling Point), and Bella Shepard (Wolf Pack), with Zoë Steiner (Significant Others), Tig Notaro (Star Trek: Discovery), Robert Picardo (Star Trek: Voyager), and guest stars Oded Fehr (The Mummy), Mary Wiseman (Star Trek: Discovery), as well as recurring guest stars Gina Yashere (Bob Hearts Abishola) and Paul Giamatti (The Holdovers).
