Today, the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television announced the nominations for the 2026 Canadian Screen Awards, capping off a standout year for Canadian television and film.
Leading the pack with an impressive 20 nominations is North of North, the CBC comedy starring Anna Lambe. It follows a young Inuk mother determined to reinvent herself in the tight-knit Arctic community of Ice Cove. Close behind is the global hockey romance sensation Heated Rivalry, which scored 18 nominations and further cemented its status as a breakout hit.
On the film side, the post-apocalyptic thriller 40 Acres leads with 10, while the experimental mockumentary Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie and the horror-thriller Honey Bunch each earned 8 nominations.
Altogether, this year’s nominations highlight a wide range of bold, diverse storytelling across the country, with many more Canadian films and series being recognized. The final portion of the 2026 Canadian Screen Awards will broadcast and stream live on Sunday, May 31 at 8:00 PM on CBC, CBC Gem, Crave, CTV, Global, and STACKTV.
Below we highlight some of the nominations. The full list of nominees is can be found on the Canadian Screen Awards site.
