Prime Video’s upcoming series, Beyond Black Beauty, inspired by the iconic novel Black Beauty, will premiere on the platform with all 11 episodes on October 15th. Fans of the long-running CBC series Heartland will want to put the new series on their to-watch list for October as it is also a multi-generational story focused on family, but with an added coming-of-age component.
Created by Pilar Golden (God Friended Me) who also serves as showrunner and executive producer, the series follows young equestrian Jolie Dumont, whose Olympic dreams are dashed when her mother moves them from Belgium to her family’s urban ranch in Baltimore. An angry Jolie wants to escape until she bonds with a spirited horse named Black Beauty. Jolie will learn to embrace her heritage while continuing toward her Olympic-hopeful future and discover the value of family and home.
The series stars Kaya Coleman (Dangerous Game: The Legacy Murders) as Jolie Dumont, Gina James (Transplant), Sagine Sémajuste (Grand Army), Lisa Berry (Supernatural), and Gilles Marini (Switched at Birth), with Akiel Julien (Code 8: Part II), Ashton James (Revenge of the Black Best Friend), Eben Yehemdi (Zillion), Tine Roggeman (Buck), Justice James (Lucky 7), Gabrielle Lazure (Chronicles of the Sun), and Maia Jae Bastidas (Gen V).
