The Netflix supernatural horror film The Deliverance will have its theatrical release on August 16th before arriving on the platform on August 30th. Directed by Lee Daniels (Precious, The Butler), and written by David Coggeshall (Prey, Orphan: First Kill) and Elijah Bynum (Hot Summer Nights, Magazine Dreams), The Deliverance has an all-star ensemble cast.
It stars Andra Day (The United States vs. Billie Holiday, We the People), Glenn Close (The New Look, The Wife), Mo’Nique (Precious, Bessie), Anthony B. Jenkins (Florida Man, Roswell, New Mexico), Miss Lawrence (Bros, Star), Demi Singleton (King Richard, Godfather of Harlem), Tasha Smith (Empire, Survival of the Thickest), Omar Epps (Power Book III: Raising Kanan, House), Caleb McLaughlin (Stranger Things, Concrete Cowboy), and Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (King Richard, Origin).
The synopsis reads, “Ebony Jackson, a struggling single mother fighting her personal demons, moves her family into a new home for a fresh start. But when strange occurrences inside the home raise the suspicions of Child Protective Services and threaten to tear the family apart, Ebony soon finds herself locked in a battle for her life and the souls of her children. Inspired by a true story The Deliverance is directed by Academy Award nominee Lee Daniels and stars Andra Day, Glenn Close, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor, and Mo’Nique in a genre-defying take on darkness, possession, and finding a higher power.”
