Netflix today dropped the trailer for the sci-fi horror, The Last House starring Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent, Narcos) and Greta Lee (The Morning Show, Past Lives). Premiering August 7, The Last House follows a family of four who are suddenly sealed inside their home with no way out. They must work together to survive against both their dwindling resources and the mysterious, looming threat that is keeping them trapped.

Written by Matthew Robinson (Love and Monsters, Dora and the Lost City of Gold) and directed by Louis Leterrier (Fast X, Now You See Me), the cast also includes Gabriel Barbosa (May December), Emma Ho (The Expanse), Noah Alexander Sosnowski (Section 8), and Riley Chung (Sunrise).

“Growing up, my favorite things to watch and read were survivalist stories with a twist. So I was immediately drawn to this story. I love the questions this movie asks about our world and how we choose to live in it. And I was excited about the possibility of asking these questions in a new and entertaining way,” Lee tells Tudum.

“I think people are going to recognize themselves in this film. Everybody is a parent or son or daughter. We have dysfunctional families or happy families … It goes beyond culture. It’s an animal instinct we all have within ourselves — for protection, love, humor, and conflict, too,” Moura adds.

Leterrier also produces alongside Peter Chernin (Chief of War, Hidden Figures), Jenno Topping (The Madness, Hidden Figures), Kori Adelson (Fear Street: Prom Queen, Dicks: The Musical), and Oly Obst (Will Trent, Nobody Wants This).
