Netflix today released the official trailer for the acclaimed limited series, Lord of the Flies, set to premiere on May 4 in the United States. The series was first released in the UK on the BBC in February.
The series is adapted for television by Emmy-winner Jack Thorne, co-creator of the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning series Adolescence, with Marc Munden (The Mark of Cain, National Treasure) serving as director. The trailer also highlights music by Oscar-winner Hans Zimmer, Kara Talve (Bleeding Fingers Music), and Cristobal Tapia de Veer.
The 4-episode series stars Winston Sawyers (The Crow Girl) as Ralph, Lox Pratt (upcoming Harry Potter series) as Jack, and first-time actors David McKenna as Piggy and Ike Talbut as Simon. Also making their on-screen debuts are Thomas Connor as Roger, Noah and Cassius Flemyng as twins Sam and Eric, Cornelius Brandreth (upcoming Harry Potter series) as Maurice, and Tom Page-Turner as Bill.

The logline reads,”Innocence descends into savagery when a group of English schoolboys becomes desert island castaways in the first television adaptation of William Golding’s landmark dystopian classic.”
“As a society, we’re having a conversation right now about boys. We’re losing a generation of boys, and we’re losing it because of the hate they are ingesting — because it is an answer to their loneliness and isolation,” Jack Throne tells Tudum. “I hope it takes people back to the book, and I hope it allows people to lean into what the book really is, in my opinion — a difficult and dangerous account of who we are and what we’re capable of,” he adds.
