During the Netflix Upfront presentation today in New York City, Mindy Kaling (Never Have I Ever, The Mindy Project) and Kate Hudson (Glass Onion, Almost Famous) announced the title and first look photos for their new comedy series Running Point. Formerly known as Untitled Mindy Kaling Comedy Series, the series will premiere in 2025 with 10 episodes.
The logline reads: “When a scandal forces her brother to resign, Isla Gordon (Kate Hudson) is appointed President of the Los Angeles Waves, one of the most storied professional basketball franchises, and her family business. Ambitious and often overlooked, Isla will have to prove to her skeptical brothers, the board, and the larger sports community that she was the right choice for the job, especially in the unpredictable, male-dominated world of sports.”
Running Point also stars Brenda Song (Dollface, The Social Network), Drew Tarver (The Other Two, Bajillion Dollar Propertie$), Scott MacArthur (Killing It, The Righteous Gemstones), Fabrizio Guido (Mr. Iglesias, Perry Mason), Toby Sandeman (The Game, The Royals), Chet Hanks (Your Honor, Empire), Max Greenfield (The Neighborhood, New Girl), Keyla Monterroso Mejia (Suncoast, Freeridge), Roberto Sanchez (Palm Royale, BMF), Uche Agada (Rise), and Dane DiLiegro (Imaginary, Prey).
Writers and Executive Producers are Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen (The Mindy Project, Central Intelligence). Kate Hudson, Howard Klein (The Office, Late Night), Jeanie Buss, and Linda Rambis (Legacy: The True Story of the LA Lakers) also serve as Executive Producers.
The series is produced by Mindy Kaling’s Kaling International in association with Warner Bros. Television, where Kaling is under an overall deal.
