Netflix today dropped the official trailer and new photos for the upcoming rom-com, My Oxford Year starring Sofia Carson (The Life List) and Corey Mylchreest (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story), premering August 1 on the streaming platform.
Written by Allison Burnett (Autumn in New York) and Melissa Osborne (My Fault: London) and directed by Iain Morris (The Inbetweeners), the film is based on the novel by Julia Whelan, which was adapted from Burnett’s original screenplay.
The logline for My Oxford Year reads, “When Anna, an ambitious young American woman, sets out for Oxford University to fulfill a childhood dream, she has her life completely on track until she meets a charming and clever local who profoundly alters both of their lives.”
Mylchreest, who was born and raised in London, told Tudum, “I have a friend that studied for uni in Oxford, and so there was a period of my life where I was going up and getting the train to Oxford quite frequently.” “I chose not to visit all the locations where we would be filming because I wanted to save my honest reaction to witnessing the magic of Oxford for the first time, for once the cameras were rolling,” Carson added.
The cast also includes Dougray Scott (The Crow Girl), Catherine McCormack (Lockerbie: A Search for Truth), Harry Trevaldwyn (The King), Esmé Kingdom (Fallen), Nikhil Parmar (We Live in Time), Poppy Gilbert (Stay Close), Romina Cocca (The Split), Yadier Fernández (The Mother), Nia Anisah (Magpie Murders), and Hugh Coles (Baby Reindeer).
