We were joined on the Popternative show by Carson MacCormac who can be seen in Season 2 of the Netflix series, My Life with the Walter Boys, as Zach. The second season of the hit YA drama premiered on August 28 with all 10 episodes.
The series follows Jackie (Nikki Rodriguez), a 15-year-old who loses her family in an accident and leaves Manhattan to move in with her guardian Katherine Walter (Sarah Rafferty), her husband George (Marc Blucas), and their ten kids in Colorado. As Jackie tries to get used to her new life, two of the Walter boys develop feelings for Jackie: Alex (Ashby Gentry) and Cole (Noah LaLonde). Season 1 ended on a big cliffhanger, and ahead of its Season 2 premiere, the series was already renewed for a third season.
On joining the series for its second season, Carson says, “Coming into Season 2, because it had such a pre-established audience, a lot of the questions [I had] about my character had to do with ‘how do I fit into the ecosystem of this show?’ ‘What is my role in bringing something new to this?'”
In Season 2, Carson plays Zach, a senior at the high school who is quite charming and begins to get in the middle of Nathan Walter (Corey Fogelmanis) and Skylar’s (Jaylan Evans) relationship by trying to win over Nathan. “One of the strengths I think this show has is this interconnected web of empathy between the characters. It’s just this giant nervous system of feels, like a warm hug to the viewer. And the way that I read my character was that I wanted him to play kind of like a shock to that system as if its exploring something different than is normally acknowledged on the show,” he says.
