The Sheri Elwood created dramedy series Moonshine is beloved for many reasons, but one key reason is the ensemble cast. Premiering in 2021, the series tells the story of the Finley-Cullens, a dysfunctional family of adult half-siblings in Nova Scotia vying to take control of the family business – a decrepit summer resort. The series stars Jennifer Finnigan, Anastasia Phillips, Emma Hunter, Tom Stevens, Alex Nunez, Erin Darke, Farid Yazdani, Peter MacNeill, Corrine Koslo, and Allan Hawco.

Actress Anastasia Phillips plays the “unhinged” Rhian Finley-Cullen among her Moonshine castmates and wouldn’t want it any other way. Popternative host Petey Beats asked Anastasia if having interactions with different characters is the best part about working on the series.

“Totally, but also like the socializing, honestly we’re like our company, we were out there with covid so we’re kind of all we had for four months of those years when you weren’t allowed to see anyone else, and so just the diverse group of new friends I was able to make and all the different stages in their lives and yeah I love ensemble. I would do ensemble over…like the burden of carrying a show on my own shoulders would be a terrifying proposition. I grew up in the theater, I’m a middle child, I don’t like the spotlight on me let’s just say.”

All three seasons of Moonshine are available to stream on CBC Gem.
