We were joined on the Popternatie show by Jacob Fortune-Lloyd (The Queen’s Gambit) who plays famed music manager Brian Epstein in the biopic, Midas Man. The film debuted on January 22, 2025 via Olyn, a new distribution model. The film previously reached No. 1 on Amazon Prime UK and maintains an 82% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Midas Man‘s synopsis reads, “Widely hailed as the mastermind behind The Beatles’ meteoric rise, the film follows Epstein, a gay man in the UK at a time when it was illegal, and a Jewish man in the aftermath of the Holocaust, as he navigates a whirlwind of unprecedented fame, cultural revolution, and personal demons. This isn’t just a story about music — it’s about the universal human experience: the search for love, identity, and the strength to dream in the face of adversity.”
Written by Brigit Grant and directed by Joe Stephenson (Doctor Jekyll), the film also stars Jay Leno, Emily Watson (Dune: Prophecy,), Eddie Suzy Izzard (Ocean’s Thirteen), Eddie Marsan (Happy-Go-Lucky), Ed Speleers (Star Trek: Picard), Blake Richardson (New Hope Club), Jonah Lees (Phantom of the Open), Leo Harvey-Elledge (Better Man), Campbell Wallace (G’wed), and Adam Lawrence (Peaky Blinders).
