Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel today dropped the official trailer for Masters of the Universe based on the iconic 80s toy brand. Directed by Travis Knight (Bumblebee), Masters of the Universe will release in theaters June 5.
Masters of the Universe stars Nicholas Galitzine (The Idea of You, Red, White & Royal Blue), Camila Mendes (Do Revenge, Riverdale), Alison Brie (Together, GLOW), James Purefoy (Saint-Pierre, Outrageous), Morena Baccarin (Sheriff Country, Deadpool), Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson (Vikings: Valhalla, Succession), Charlotte Riley (Malice, The Peripheral), Kristen Wiig (Palm Royale, Bridesmaids) as the voice of Roboto, Jared Leto (Tron: Ares, Suicide Squad), and Idris Elba (Hijack, Luther).
The synopsis reads, “After being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) back to Eternia where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor (Jared Leto). To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies, Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), and embrace his true destiny as He-Man — the most powerful man in the universe.”
