The highly anticipated horror film Longlegs from writer and director Osgood Perkins arrives in theaters on Friday, July 12 and is already Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes at 92%. Starring Maika Monroe (It Follows, Watcher), Blair Underwood (American Crime Story, Quantico), Alicia Witt (I Care a Lot, Dune), and Nicolas Cage (Dream Scenario, Renfield), Longlegs follows an FBI agent in pursuit of a serial killer who uncovers a series of occult clues that she must solve to end his terrifying killing spree.
“The idea was to try and make a more accessible movie that would be appealing to more people. The trick was well ‘what if you pretended to be remaking Silence of the Lambs,’ you ignite the audience to sort of be like ‘oh it’s safe over’ here because its that thing you know already. So just looking to use that as the key t open the door. Once you have everything situated and feeling comfortable-ish, that’s when you can really say, ‘well it was actually this whole other card tick this whole time,” Osgood Perkins tells us.

On why she chose to be part of the project, Maika says, “It was one of those scripts that I read and immediately felt this need to play this role, and a need to step into this world, and I don’t get that often.”
