Netflix yesterday made the exciting announcement that Leighton Meester (Good Cop/Bad Cop, Gossip Girl) will guest star in the second season of the hit rom-com series, Nobody Wants This. Starring Meester’s real-life hubby Adam Brody (American Fiction, The O.C.) and Kristen Bell (The Good Place, Veronica Mars), the first season premiered in September 2024 and quickly received a second season renewal.
Netflix also announced that Miles Fowler (Bottoms, A Man on the Inside) has joined Season 2.
Nobody Wants This follows an agnostic podcast host and an unconventional rabbi who meet at party. The unlikely pair, Joanne (Kristen Bell) and Noah (Adam Brody), can soon tell there is something between them. But they’ll have to navigate their differing outlooks on life and their sometimes well-meaning, sometimes sabotaging families.
According to Netflix, Meester will play “Abby, Joanne’s nemesis from middle school who is now an Instagram mommy influencer. Fowler will play Lenny, Noah’s Matzah Ballers teammate who gets set up with Morgan (Lupe).”
The cast also includes Justine Lupe (Succession, Mr. Mercedes), Timothy Simons (Candy, Veep), Stephanie Faracy (Sneaky Pete, Sideways), Michael Hitcock (Jackpot!, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), Tovah Feldshuh (Harlan Coben’s Shelter, Lady in the Water), Paul Ben-Victor (The Irishman, The Wire), Emily Arlook (Grown-ish, You People), Jackie Tohn (Gen V, GLOW), Sherry Cola (Good Trouble, Joy Ride), and Shiloh Bearman (Home Economics).
Jenni Konner (Girls, Single Drunk Female) and Bruce Eric Kaplan (Girls, No Good Deed) join Season 2 as executive producers and showrunners, and Nora Silver (Deli Boys, Welcome to Chippendales) also come on to executive produce.
