MGM+ dropped the official trailer for American Hostage, an antholgy series, starring and executive produced by Jon Hamm (Your Friends & Neighbors, Mad Men). Co-created by Shawn Ryan (The Night Agent, The Shield) and Eileen Myers (The Night Agent, Last Resort), the eight-episode series premieres Sunday, September 20 with two episodes, followed by weekly episodes through the finale on Sunday, November 1 on MGM+. American Hostage is set for a World Premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival.
“Based on the acclaimed first season of the scripted podcast of the same name, American Hostage is a psychological thriller set in the 1970s that tells the harrowing true story of Fred Heckman, a beloved Indianapolis radio reporter who is thrust into the middle of a life-or-death crisis when hostage-taker Tony Kiritsis demands to be interviewed on his popular radio news program.”
The cast also include Giovanni Ribisi (Avatar: Fire and Ash, Sneaky Pete) as Tony Kiritsis, Kristoffer Polaha (Harlan Coben’s Shelter, Jurassic World: Dominion) as Dick Hall, William Jackson Harper (The Good Place, The Resort) as Ben Hairston, Mireille Enos (Task, For All Mankind) as Barbara Heckman, Jonathan Tucker (I Will Find You, The Ruins) as FBI Special Agent Cormac McNally, and Kat Cunning (On Swift Horses, Rap Sh!t) as Ibby Hall.
