Season 5 of Sweet Magnolias is Heading to Manhattan
Netflix provided some big updates for the upcoming fifth season of the hit drama series, Sweet Magnolias. Sweet Magnolias Season 5 is currently in production in Atlanta AND New York City.
“We are thrilled to let the Magnolias take Manhattan,” showrunner and executive producer Sheryl J. Anderson told Tudum. “Not only is this adventure huge fun, it’s also an opportunity to explore the facets of their relationships in a new context. While it’s crucial to have true friends in day-to-day life, it’s priceless to have them supporting you when you leap out of your comfort zone.”
Netflix also announced new cast members joining the upcoming season.
Per Tudum, Jamie-Lynn Sigler (The Sopranos) will play Nell Winters, a writer Maddie befriends in New York, Janice Wesley (Money Back Guarantee) joins as Miss Eustice, a town matron of Serenity. Courtney Grace (The Perfect Couple) will play Courtney Sinclair, Ronnie’s new business partner, John Gabriel Rodriquez (Fantasy Island) will play Clark Bellson, a rival business owner in Serenity, Aidan Merwarth (Stick) will play Noah Wharton, the Whartons’ grandson with Austin Woods (The Stranger in My Home) as Blake Monaghan, and Iman Benson (The Midnight Club) will play Jessica Whitley, Erik’s niece.
Season 5 will have of 10 episodes and Brooke Elliott is making her directing debut on the fourth episode, with JoAnna Garcia Swisher directing episodes 5 and 6.
The series is based on the popular series of novels by New York Times bestselling author Sherryl Woods, who also serves as an executive producer on the series.
