Apple TV+’s new mysterious “who done it” drama series, City on Fire, premiered on Friday, May 12, and is written and executive produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (Gossip Girl, The O.C.). It stars an ensemble cast including Wyatt Oleff (I Am Not Okay With This, It), Chase Sui Wonders (Bupkis, Bodies Bodies Bodies), Jemima Kirke (Conversations with Friends, Girls), Nico Tortorella (The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Younger), Ashley Zukerman (Succession, Fear Street trilogy), Xavier Clyde (Hard), Max Milner (The Dirt), Alexandra Doke (American Psychos), Omid Abtahi (The Mandalorian, American Gods), Kathleen Munroe (Patriot, Call Me Fitz), and John Cameron Mitchell (The Sandman, Joe vs. Carole).
City on Fire Synopsis
“Inspired by the international best-selling novel of the same name by Garth Risk Hallberg, City on Fire, follows a NYU student who is shot in Central Park on the Fourth of July, 2003. Samantha (Wonders) is alone; there are no witnesses and very little physical evidence. Her friends’ band is playing her favorite downtown club but she leaves to meet someone, promising to return. She never does. As the crime against Samantha is investigated, she’s revealed to be the crucial connection between a series of mysterious citywide fires, the downtown music scene, and a wealthy uptown real estate family fraying under the strain of the many secrets they keep. Charlie (Wyatt) is a friend of Samantha’s who is struggling to cope with the death of his father on 9/11 two years earlier. After she is shot, he stops at nothing to unravel the mystery of what happened.”
