We were joined on the Popternative show by Simone Joy Jones (Anything’s PossibleBel-Air) and Nicole Richie (Bless This MessGreat News) to discuss Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead, a contemporary remake of the 1991 classic film.

Released in theaters on April 12th, the film is directed by Wade Allain-Marcus (Grown-ishInsecure) and also stars June Squibb (PalmerNebraska), Donielle Tremaine Hensley (Praise ThisContainment), Jermaine Fowler (The BlackeningComing 2 America), Miles Fowler (Bottoms, The Resident), Gus Kenworthy (80 for Brady, American Horror Story), Iantha Richardson (Will Trent, American Soul), Carter Young (Mayans M.C.), and Ms. Pat (The Ms. Pat Show).

Simone Joy Jones plays seventeen-year-old Tanya who can’t wait to spend the summer with her friends in Spain before university in the fall. But when her mom (Ms. Pat) decides to she needs a much deserved wellness retreat, Tanya is forced to stay home with her three siblings. Following the unexpected death of their babysitter (June Squibb), Tanya fakes her resume and gets a job at a fashion designing firm working for Rose (Nicole Richie). While balancing work, family, and a complicated romance, Tanya faces the responsibility of adulthood at the cost of her summer.
