Cheryl Strayed’s best-selling book, Tiny Beautiful Things, was adapted into a play in 2016, and is now adapted for TV. Hulu‘s limited series of the same name premiered on April 7 and stars Kathryn Hahn (Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, WandaVision), Sarah Pidgeon (The Wilds, Gotham), Quentin Plair (Welcome to Chippendales, Roswell, New Mexico), and Tanzyn Crawford (Servant), with Owen Painter (The Handmaid’s Tale), Merritt Wever (Severance, Marriage Story), Elizabeth Hinkler (American Auto, Follow Me), and Michaela Watkins (The Dropout, Casual).
Tiny Beautiful Things follows Clare (Kathryn Hahn) a floundering writer who becomes a revered advice columnist while her own life is falling apart. After reluctantly taking on the advice column, Sugar, Clare’s life unfurls in a complex fabric of memory through flashbacks, exploring her most pivotal moments from childhood through present day. Through Sugar, Clare offers comfort for her readers, and for herself, to show us that we are not beyond rescue, that our stories can ultimately save us.

We spoke with Sarah Pidgeon on the Popternative show who portrays the younger version of Clare we see in flashbacks as adult Clare looks to her past when writing the advice column. Sarah tells us how she prepared for her role which included many conversations with Cheryl Strayed herself, who serves as Executive Producer. She also explains that while she didn’t have any scenes with Kathryn Hahn, she got to be on set during Kathryn’s scenes to get a better sense of adult Clare’s character.

Tiny Beautiful Things is streaming on Hulu.
