We were joined on the Popternative show by Sara Garcia (Ride, The Flash) who plays Jennifer Morales in the crime procedural series The Hunting Party. Now in its second season on NBC, Garcia returns alongside Melissa Roxburgh (Manifest, Star Trek Beyond), Nick Weschler (Revenge, Roswell), Patrick Sabongui (The Flash, Homeland), and Josh McKenzie (La Brea, Filthy Rich).
Morales, a Major and a United States Army Intelligence Officer, is a complex character and Garcia is still learning about her: “I definitely learned some stuff about Morales that I didn’t know from season 1, like her relationship with AG Mallory. That was a shocker to me when I read the script. I was like, “Oh, whoa, juicy.” And also what does that mean moving forward? If her loyalties were with AG Mallory, what does that mean now that Mallory is out of the picture? We also learn about some of the that she she has and that she’s building with other people.”
Garcia also attributes show’s appeal by the notable guest actors. Season 2 features Eric McCormack (Will & Grace, Travelers) and his son Finnigan McCormack, Kelsey Grammer (Frasier, Cheers), Niecy Nash-Betts (Monster, Claws), Liz Gillies (Dynasty, Victorious), Jefferson White (Yellowstone, Civil War), and most recently, Josh Dallas who reunited with his Manifest co-star Melissa Roxburgh.
“Last season we sort of set a precedent of hiring interesting actors for our serial killers and this season, we’re really leaning into that. I think one thing that’s drawing people in is [getting to see] who’s going to be our serial killer of the week. I mean, we’ve we had Eric McCormack and Niecy Nash-Betts, and Kelsey Grammer, all these amazing people. As an audience member, I’m sitting there being like, well, even as an actor, I’m sitting there waiting for the scripts being like, who’s the next one?,” Garcia says.
