We were joined on the Popternative show by Mexican actress Renata Vaca who makes her American film debut in the latest Saw installment, Saw X, which premiered in theaters on September 29th. The horror film is set between the events of Saw I (2004) and II (2005), and explores the untold chapter of Jigsaw’s life as he travels to Mexico for an experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer. When he discovers that the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable, he returns to his work and turns the tables on the con artists in his signature way through a series of terrifying traps.

Directed by Kevin Greutert (Saw VI, Jessabelle), Saw X also stars Tobin Bell as John Kramer/Jigsaw, Shawnee Smith (Saw II, Saw III), Synnøve Macody Lund (Ragnarok, Haunted), Steven Brand (Vikings: Valhalla, Hellraiser: Revelations), Octavio Hinojosa (Mala fortuna, La Fiscal de Hierro), Paulette Hernandez (Crown of Tears, Cuna de Lobos), Joshua Okamoto (Control Z, The Club), and Michael Beach (Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown).

In our interview, Renata tells us about her audition process for her role as Gabriela in Saw X, what it was like working on the set, and about her character without giving away any spoilers. Watch the full conversation below.
