This article contains some spoilers about Stranger Things season 4.

We had the pleasure of speaking with young actor Raphael Luce on the Popternative show about his role as Henry Creel in the latest season of Stranger Things, which premiered on May 27 (volume 1). Season 4 is split up in 2 volumes, with the second volume containing the remaining 2 episodes dropping on July 1 on Netflix.

We asked Raphael about the season finally being out since he had filmed his scenes three years ago when he was just 12 years old. “After three years of waiting and just keeping it a secret, it’s so nice to be able to watch my scenes,” he tells us. We also discuss how one of the first teasers the world got from Stranger Things season 4 was the flashbacks of the Creel family (shown below).

An interesting part of Henry Creel’s character is that he doesn’t have any dialogue in his scenes, but a lot of emotion still comes through: “It definitely made it a little bit easier on my part because I didn’t have any dialogue […] I didn’t have to be like ‘oh I have to say this at this moment,’ I could think more about what I’m supposed to be acting.”

Raphael also tells us how he wasn’t informed too much about the storyline and context of his scenes when filming which made things a bit difficult at times. He also wasn’t aware at the time of filming that he was actually portraying a young version of Vecna (the original 001).

All 7 episodes of Stranger Things season 4 volume 1 are now streaming on Netflix.
