It’s Spooky Season! We chatted with Phil Wright who plays Harold in Disney Channel’s Under Wraps. This movie is a remake of the 1997 film of the same name, and premiered on October 1. It also became available to stream on Disney+ on October 8. Check out what Phil had to say below!

When did you decide that storytelling and acting was something you wanted to do?

PW: I was always interested in the entertainment industry and telling stories. However, I think it was when I got involved with Disney Channel as the Executive Producer and Choreographer for the television series “Disney Fam Jam” that I really had that moment where I realized that acting was something I wanted to pursue in addition to dance.

What advice would you give to people pursuing acting?

PW: I would say to follow your dreams. It’s not going to be easy, but you have to believe in yourself. I think that practicing, having an open mind, and the willingness to learn can get you a long way. Playing “Harold” [in Under Wraps] was such a rewarding experience because although my part did not have any lines, it was the ultimate learning experience. The cast was amazing and the director taught me so much.

What do you enjoy the most about acting?

PW: What I love the most about acting is that I have the ability to tell stories and make people smile. At the end of the day, that is what it is really all about for me.

What can you tell us about Under Wraps on Disney Channel?

PW: “Under Wraps” is a remake of the first-ever Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) that was released in 1997. It’s a really heartwarming story that will also get people in the Halloween spirit.

What was it like working on Under Wraps?

PW: Working on “Under Wraps” was definitely a highlight for me so far in my acting career. There was a lot of fun stuff that went into playing a mummy, but it was all worth it.

How did you prepare for this role?

PW: I watched the original “Under Wraps” because although I wanted to bring my own personality to my character, I thought that it was necessary to have an idea of how my character was portrayed in the original film.
