We were joined on the Popternative show by Patricia Allison who stars in the new film Paradise, streaming now on Tubi after having its US premiere at the Cinequest Film Festival on March 11th.

Described as a tropical punk western, Paradise is directed by Max Isaacson (Fun Size Horror) and follows young punk Ella Patche (played by Patricia Allison) “who imagines herself a modern-day gunslinger. With more bullets in her six-shooter than friends in her life, her only anchor is her father, the local sheriff of their backwater paradise. But when he is brutally murdered, Ella’s fragile world collapses.”

The cast also includes Myles Evans (The Hate U Give), Bashir Salahuddin (South Side), Adam Lustick (Battle of the Sexes), Arjun Gupta (Deborah), CJ Hoff (Chemical Hearts), and Tate Donovan (The O.C.).

When discussing what first attracted her to the film, Patricia tells us, “It’s also a fun take to see a kind of wild girl who hasn’t really got herself together, who is in a lot of pain and rage, and I was really interested in seeing the vulnerability in that; is there a way of seeing somebody like this being vulnerable as well? That’s what I wanted to explore when I first read the script. I was like, this is kinda fun, this looks bad ass.”

Patricia also goes into detail about preparing for her role as Ella which required lots of rehearsal and physical prep, as well as her time playing Ola on the Netflix hit series Sex Education.

Paradise is avaible to stream on Tubi in the US and Canada.
