Prime Video’s newest series is the mystery thriller The Consultant starring Christoph Waltz (Inglourious Basterds), Nat Wolff (Paper Towns), Brittany O’Grady (The White Lotus), and Aimee Carrero (The Menu). The 8-episode series follows a new consultant, Regus Patoff (Waltz), who is hired to improve the business at a gaming company after their boss is murdered. Employees soon experience new challenges that make them question who this consultant really is and what actually happened to their boss.
We were joined on the Popternative show by Nat Wolff, Brittany O’Grady, and Aimee Carrero to discuss The Consultant and how there is tension from the very moment episode one begins. Nat explains reading the script for the first time: “And then there’s this huge twist at the end of the pilot and I screamed in my apartment […] I had never read anything like that in my life.” Brittany talks about her character’s storyline and how she was happy to “play an adult, finally.”
We also ask Aimee if she is specifically drawn to projects that touch on elements of horror: “These are the themes that make my mind go a hundred miles an hour, these are the things I like to watch. The Menu, The Consultant, they deal with capitalism, consumption, complicity, cult-like thinking […] I am drawn to them.”
