We were joined on the Popternative show by Morena Baccarin who stars in the new action thriller, Fast Charlie, alongside Pierce Brosnan (The Son, The World Is Not Enough). The film was released in select theaters and On Demand December 8th, and also stars Gbenga Akinnagbe (The Old Man, Edge of Darkness), Toby Huss (Dickinson, King of the Hill), with Sharon Gless (Queer as Folk, Burn Notice), and James Caan (Las Vegas, The Godfather). Fast Charlie is directed by Phillip Noyce (Revenge, The Bone Collector) and based on the novel Gun Monkeys by Victor Gischler.
Fast Charlie follows fixer Charlie Swift (Pierce Brosnan) with a big problem: “the target he’s whacked is missing his head. And he must prove it’s the intended target to the man who paid for the hit – New Orleans’ most prominent and most ruthless mobster, Beggar Mercado (Gbenga Akinnagbe). Charlie enlists Marcie Kramer (Morena Baccarin), the victim’s ex-wife and a woman with the backbone and skillset Charlie needs.”
In our interview, Morena describes the film as being more than just an action film: “The action stuff is really compelling and interesting, but there’s also really great sense of humor in this film that I think is key to drawing you into the characters. And it’s a sort of an odd group, from Pierce’s [Brosnan] character, Sharon Gless’s character, to James Caan’s character, it’s a really complex world and I think people are going to be very drawn to it.”
