AppleTV+’s newest comedy series Loot premiered this past Friday, June 24 and we spoke with stars Maya Rudolph and Michaela Jaé Rodriguez on the Popternative show all about it. Created, written and executive produced by Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard, Loot follows billionaire Molly Novak (Maya Rudolph) who has a dream life, complete with private jets, a sprawling mansion and a gigayacht – anything her heart desires. But when her husband of 20 years (Adam Scott) betrays her, she spirals publicly.
Molly is reaching rock bottom when she learns that she has a charity foundation run by the no-nonsense Sofia Salinas (Michaela Jaé Rodriguez), who pleads with Molly to stop generating bad press. With her devoted assistant Nicholas (Joel Kim Booster) and the help of Sofia and team – including mild-mannered accountant Arthur (Nat Faxon) and her optimistic, pop-culture-loving cousin Howard (Ron Funches) – Molly embarks on a journey of self-discovery and giving back to others.
In our interview, Maya and Michaela discuss the important messaging of finding yourself in Loot – no matter the context. They also discuss the chemistry between their characters and how they were able to bring that from the script onto the screen.

The first 3 episodes of Loot are now streaming on AppleTV+, and a new episode will drop every Friday with a total of 10 episodes in the first season.
