We were joined on the Popternative show by Lisa Yamada who you will soon be able to catch as Parker in season 2 of Cruel Summer which will be coming soon to Freeform. The series, which premiered in April 2021, is now an anthology series and will see a new cast and storyline for season 2.
Fans have been waiting a while for a new season since the renewal announcement back in June 2021. Season 1 followed various timelines in the 90s, and season 2 will follow “the rise and fall of an intense teenage friendship…from three different timelines surrounding Y2K.” Sadie Stanley, Griffin Gluck, KaDee Strickland, Sean Blakemore and Paul Adelstein also join this season.
In our interview, Lisa talks about her love for working in the horror/thriller genre, and what it was like working on Cruel Summer after the first season’s amazing reception. Lisa also tells us a little bit of what to expect with the new season, and some of her favorite things about being a storyteller.
