We were recently joined on the Popternative show by Lee Majdoub who returns to the screen as Agent Stone in the adventure/comedy film Sonic the Hedgehog 2 which is now playing in theaters. The sequel comes two years after Sonic the Hedgehog made its debut which is based on the popular video game franchise by Sega.

Sonic The Hedgehog (2020) told the story of the world’s speediest hedgehog named Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz) as he embraced his new home on Earth. Sonic and his new best friend Tom (James Marsden) teamed up to defend the planet from the evil genius Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his plans for world domination. Lee played Agent Stone, Dr. Robotnik’s assistant and loyal sidekick, and was the breakout star of the first one.

Lee reprises his role as Agent Stone in the sequel, and in our interview tells us about the excitement surrounding it: “The hype around the first one was insane, and now the hype around the second one is so much bigger, I think people are really looking forward to it. I think the first one showed them what could be done, and the second one just takes it to the next level.”

“To have the fans receive Agent Stone like they did and then to have Paramount and that entire team really like the character as well to invite me back […] it’s an absolute dream come true,” Lee tells us about all the positive reaction to his character in the first film. We then asked him what he hopes audiences will take away when they watch the sequel: “Sonic as a character has grown from the first movie but still is trying to figure out his place in the world, he’s still making mistakes, […] and what I really like about what they’ve done with these movies is so many of us can identify with ‘where do I belong in this world? What am I meant to do?’ So I think that’s a major plot point.”
