We were joined on the Popternative show by rapper Lady London to discuss her new docuseries, Always, Lady London, now streaming on Tubi. The three-part documentary gives fans an inside look into the making of her debut album, “To Whom It May Concern.” The series chronicles the major-label release and worldwide tour on the line as she faces grief, doubt, and the pressure to deliver.

Always, Lady London is produced by MACRO Television Studios. Erika Bryant (The Real Housewives of Atlanta) both directs and executive produces. Jamila Hunter and Jean Shi from MACRO Television Studios, Yessica Garcia, Jeremy “J Dot” Jones and London are also executive producers on the docuseries.

Putting the series together was a collaborative effort as Lady London explains, “I was very close with my showrunners, directors, and producers on this, so we did a lot of edits in post [production], but for the most part, I think they understood the way we wanted to tell the narrative.”

“The only unfortunate thing is that we didn’t get enough time to film all the things we wanted to. So, what they [editing and producing team] did really well was tell the story of the lead up to three months prior to the tour and the creation of the album,” she adds.

This probably won’t be the last time we see Lady London on our screens outside of performing: “I would love to explore another [series or film] but I’d like to be on the back end of things. I’d love to write, produce [and] direct my own film. I think that would probably be my next chapter in things outside of my artistry.”
