We were joined back on the Popternative show by Kat Conner Sterling who plays Max in the horror film Five Nights at Freddy’s, which premiered in theaters and on Peacock October 27th. A film adaptation of the popular horror video game of the same name, it also stars Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Matthew Lillard, Piper Rubio, and Mary Stuart Masterson.

In our interview, we asked Kat about first reading the script and how her character was described: “I think I took it in a different direction then they had originally intended, which is why I think you feel so bad for her, I think originally she was supposed to be a bit more bubbly, and so you wouldn’t have liked her as much, but I came into it feeling the kind of weight to her and feeling bad for her. I think she was stuck in a bad place […] I feel bad for her, I mean I’m biased.”

She also discusses her audition process, what it was like filming some of her terrifying scenes, the set design, and much more. Watch the full conversation with Kat Conner Sterling below.

Five Nights at Freddy’s is streaming on Peacock.
