We had the pleasure of chatting with Kaitlin Moore who voices Alex in the Spotify/DC Comics audio thriller Batman Unburied which is now streaming on Spotify.

When did you decide that storytelling and acting was something you wanted to do?

Kaitlin Moore (KM):
Honestly, I’ve always known that it was what I needed to do. I know that sounds like every other person ever, but as life goes up and down, parts of us come and go. Acting and storytelling never left and I really do feel the happiest when I’m doing them. I think it’s really hard to be honest with ourselves about what makes us happy, and I feel really lucky that I’ve had supportive parents and people in my corner to encourage me to just go for it. I also went to school for directing and film production so I really love the whole process of creating a movie all the way from top to bottom along with acting!

What advice would you give to people pursuing Voice acting?

My biggest pieces of advice would be to think of all the different avenues in voice acting and to not talk yourself out of pursing it if you are interested. It’s so much fun. Self submit for projects, create a demo, take classes and trust yourself! I kind of fell into doing audio dramas by putting myself out there and that was one of the best things that has ever happened to me. There are audio books, commercials, animation, podcasts, audio dramas and so much more. Be open minded, really believe in yourself and just try!

What can you tell us about Batman Unburied?

Batman Unburied is an epic podcast that takes you on a journey through Bruce Wayne’s mind. There are multiple villains and many iconic characters that make appearances, played by insanely amazing actors (I am still pinching myself that I got to be a part of this cast.) You just have to close your eyes and you will go on a journey that is dark, twisted, thrilling, and will keep you on your toes. I play Alex who you will meet in later episodes and she is definitely a big piece in an infamous super villain’s origin story. I hope you give it a listen!

What’s it like to be part of the geek comic book culture?

KM: Well, I’m a geek myself for sure, so I am just thankful that this story gets people excited. It’s super cool being a part of something that an existing community is passionate about. It feels cool to get to actually talk to people who are just as excited as I am about this podcast too. It’s one thing when you created or worked on a project, obviously you want to talk about it with friends, family, etc, but it’s another thing when other people genuinely want to hear about your experience and you get to share that joy together. I think it’s really cool that my character is brand new and someone who I could see making sense in more stories down the line 🙂 That’s my hope! I want Alex to thrive in this wonderful universe!

What do you think about the current oodcast landscape?

KM: Even though podcasts are clearly a huge part of culture, I still feel like there is so much room within this landscape to discover new ways to tell stories. Podcasts can be one person just chatting about their day and engaging an audience as if it’s a phone call or it can be like Batman Unburied where you are basically listening to a beautifully-detailed audio film. I can’t wait to see what this podcast sparks in artists.

When people check out Batman Unburied, what are you hoping they get out of it?

KM: There are so many things I hope people can take from it! I think one of my biggest hopes is that people get excited about the podcast space as a whole. I feel like Batman Unburied is exploring uncharted waters and that’s one of the many reasons why I am so grateful to be a part of it. It really is something you can’t quite explain until you actually put your headphones on for yourself, or blast it in the car, and just completely dive into the universe. I want people to seek out new forms of art and enjoy them just as much as we do film and TV! As far as the story goes, I hope people love it as much as I do. I think we really get to feel new sides to these iconic DC characters and learn more about why they are who they are. I love that I get to help tell Poison Ivy’s story and get to be a part of showing her heart.
