One of the most terrifying television series is finally back on our screens. Season 4 of the supernatural horror series FROM premiered with its first episode on Sunday, April 19 and introduced audiences to a new character, Sophie, played by Julia Doyle (Hell of a Summer).
Sophie is the newest arrival in the nightmare town that traps and terrorizes its residents. She arrived with her father, a pastor, who unfortunately died in the car crash that brought them into the town. However, as Episode 1 unfolds, it becomes clear she’s more than just another victim who’s stumbled into this hellish place. Spoilers ahead.
We were joined on the Popternative show by Julia Doyle to discuss her character (or should we say, characters) as well as her audition process for the series.
The twist surrounding Sophia’s character also came as a surprise to Julia: “[It was] a big secret. I did not know I was [the] man in yellow or any of that. I had no idea until literally, like, 24 hours before I got on a call with Jack, the director.”
“I did not know that I was auditioning for FROM. It was called No Exit. It was the first time I’ve done an audition where I got no storyline. Normally in the breakdown they give you all the information about the project, your character, but I had nothing. All my [audition] scenes took place in the clinic. So, I just thought I was auditioning for this new MGM+ paranormal hospital show,” she adds.
On joining the series in such a dynamic role, Julia says: “I feel so so lucky and happy. [It’s] also just one of those things where it’s nice because the emotions I feel naturally are very similar to the ones that my character feels. I’m happy to be on set and so is the man in yellow. Man in yellow is very happy to be talking to Sarah, talking to Kenny, and so am I. So, it was one of those things where my own experiences were able to play into Sophia/Man in yellow.”
