We were joined on the Popternative show by Johnna Dias-Watson who can be seeing playing siren student Divina in Netflix’s hit new Addams Family spinoff series Wednesday. The series premiered on November 23rd and is directed and executive produced by Tim Burton.
Wednesday stars Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, Gwendoline Christie as Principal Larissa Weems, Percy Hynes White as Xavier Thorpe, Jamie McShane as Sheriff Galpin, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay, Naomi J Ogawa as Yoko Tanaka, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene Ottinger, Georgie Farmer as Ajax Petropolus, Riki Lindhome as Dr. Kinbott, with Christina Ricci as Marilyn Thornhill, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, and Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams.

The supernaturally infused mystery follows Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday attempts to master her psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.

In our interview, Johnna tells us about filming the series, specifically the boat race scene and the Nightshade Society scenes. Johnna specifically enjoyed filming the Nigthshade scenes: “First of all the capes. The capes and the masks. You’re basically doing Halloween at work – it’s so awesome and those days on set were so fun and it was the group of us.”
