We were joined on the Popternative show by Ava Louise Murchison who stars as Jane in the new Apple TV+ family adventure series Jane which premiered on April 14 on the streaming platform. Inspired by the life and work of conservation icon Dr. Jane Goodall, the series follows 9-year-old budding environmentalist Jane (Ava Louise Murchison) on a quest to save endangered animals. Through imagination, Jane takes her best friends David (Mason Blomberg) and Greybeard the chimpanzee on adventures to help protect wild animals all around the world.
When auditioning for the role, Ava explains what she initialy knew about the project: “I didn’t really know that it was involved with Dr. Jane Goodall, but I did know it was very involved with animals and I really love that because I’m an animal lover and really good at imagining.”
Ava and the cast and crew travelled quite a bit to film the series which took place in different parts of the world, introducing her to new experiences such as scuba diving in a shark cage and riding a snowmobile, to name a few. One of Ava’s favorite parts about making this series however is the important messaging behind it: “I really love that I’m part of a show that is going to inspire kids to help save the environment and save animals.”
